Research Computing Centre (RCC)

RCC manages and supports UQ's investment in eResearch and digital research infrastructure.

Who we are

The Research Computing Centre (RCC) provides co-ordinated management and support of UQ's sustained and substantial investment in eResearch and digital research infrastructure (advanced hardware and software for research), such as high-performance computers (HPCs), research data storage, visualisation tools, artificial intelligence platforms and workflows. RCC collaborates with researchers to advance and accelerate research outcomes.

What we offer

We innovate with digital research infrastructure and enable researchers to achieve greater research impact.

Systems

RCC procures and manages a significant and comprehensive suite of systems for researchers. This includes high performing computers (HPCs), cloud computing infrastructure, software platforms and workflow tools, research data storage technology, artificial intelligence platforms and instruments for data management.

Expertise

The RCC team offers UQ researchers expertise in high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, visualisation, web portals, repositories, digital humanities and social sciences infrastructure.

Support and training

RCC supports UQ research staff and higher degree by research (HDR) students with their use of advanced digital research infrastructure. Allow us to share our expertise with you.

Who we collaborate with

Researchers

RCC's specialist team of advanced digital research infrastructure (DRI) experts work with UQ research staff and HDR students across disciplines to make the most of the eResearch technologies available to them – whether it is UQ or national infrastructure. The RCC service desk is available during normal working hours to assist researchers with their enquiries.

Partners

RCC collaborates with state, national and international eResearch organisations in a domain-supporting and research role to strengthen local outcomes and the overall eResearch sector. RCC works with international technology partners in a research and development role to improve capabilities for researchers, and to provide novel technologies that confer competitive advantage to UQ researchers.

The RCC advantage

RCC has an impressive record in procuring, managing and supporting state-of-the-art digital research infrastructure (DRI), some of which is the first of its kind in Australia or at an Australian university. RCC's team of highly skilled DRI specialists provide support and consultancy, enabling UQ researchers to use these capabilities optimally for their research.
